Sumi-e: Moonlight Serenade by catherinejao Sumi-e: Moonlight Serenade by catherinejao
Original sumi-e. Plums and a bird in the moonlight. From Feb. 19, 2009. Sumi ink on xuan.

I've never been very good at doing plum. It's my waterloo of the four gentlemen. But after a disappointing finals in class, where I had to do plum, I resolved to improve it. This is one of my favorites because it showed what a little patience can do ;)

Oh and I liked the addition of the moon, though on hindsight, it might've been better a little lighter.

It looks great. I really like the representation of the moon as outline of a circle instead of filled in circle. The yellow does make me think of the sun instead. Have you tried a light blue for the moon or a greyish blue?
